FACILITIES AVAILABLE FROM MERCHISTON

MEMORIAL HALL

This is a magnificent large hall with ornate glass windows built in 1929 and is the most impressive room in the school.  The sound of the organ, whose pipes are on display, resonates wonderfully around the Hall.  There is also a grand piano that can be made available, if required.  Full PA equipment is also provided.  The Memorial Hall provides a memorable location for wedding ceremonies and evening dances. 

OLD LIBRARY

This is the most valuable and irreplaceable room in the school.  It contains artefacts and memorabilia from Merchiston’s illustrious sporting history since the 1800s.  Former wooden desktops line the room – some date back to 1880!  This size of this room makes it suitable for reception drinks, line-ups or a room for relaxing during the dancing.

FRONT OF SCHOOL

Merchiston has beautiful spacious floors on three levels linked by a magnificent central staircase which provides a fantastic backdrop for photographs of the newly weds! Your guests can mingle and chat before the service in this front of school area as well as during the reception and as the celebrations run on into the evening. 

DINING HALL

This spacious, wooden floored dining hall has the capacity to seat from 60 to 200 guests.  It has recently been redecorated which has improved the appearance of this room.  There is a small stage at the back of the room which lends itself wonderfully for the cutting of the cake, speeches or whatever else is planned that should be viewed by all!  A full PA system and other media can be provided upon request.  We can provide both circular (seating up to 8) and rectangle tables (flexible numbers) to suit your guest numbers.

GROUNDS

There are 100 acres of stunning parkland that make up Merchiston’s grounds.  Views of the panoramic Pentland Hills and Edinburgh Castle among the many leafy trees set the scene for your special day.  The long drive winds its way from the gates of the school up to the front doors making a very impressive entrance.  Your guests will love it. PROFESSIONAL CATERING STAFF

Our Head Chef has worked in all major hotelleries in Edinburgh and therefore has a wealth of experience in menu design and catering requirements for these special functions.  Our team of catering staff are extremely professional and provide a very friendly service.   This is one of our strengths as feedback from previous guests.  All napkins, linen, tableware & glassware is provided.

WEDDING ORGANISER

These services are provided as a matter of course and they shall help you plan and organise your day.  They shall also be present on your wedding day to ensure the smooth running of your wedding and to take the pressure off your shoulders.
